Achievements of the Office of the Auditor General
Since its establishment, the Office of the Auditor General has made significant progress in strengthening institutional capacity and delivering on its mandate. From a limited operational base, the Office has evolved into a functional oversight institution contributing to improved accountability in the management of public resources.
Key milestones achieved in the execution of its mandate include:
- Enactment of the Audit Act by Parliament, providing the legal framework for audit oversight
- Approval of the Auditor General and Deputy Auditor General positions by Parliament, strengthening institutional leadership
- Introduction and piloting of AFROSAI-E Financial Audit Manual working papers to enhance audit quality and standardisation
- Conduct of special audits, including audits of cash and bank transactions and airport revenues
- Submission of annual audit reports to Parliament in support of legislative oversight
- Development of a strategic plan to guide the Office’s priorities and institutional growth over the medium term
