The audit focuses on evaluating economy, efficiency and effectiveness in the delivery of government programmes and services.<\/p><h4 data-section-id=\"1rj9hao\" data-start=\"532\" data-end=\"568\"><span role=\"text\"><strong data-start=\"536\" data-end=\"566\">Scope of Performance Audit<\/strong><\/span><\/h4><p data-start=\"569\" data-end=\"864\">Performance audits examine how public institutions plan, implement and manage programmes and activities. The audit assesses whether resources are used optimally, whether processes are efficient and whether intended outcomes are achieved in line with established objectives and policy priorities.<\/p><h4 data-section-id=\"5j726r\" data-start=\"866\" data-end=\"927\"><span role=\"text\"><strong data-start=\"870\" data-end=\"925\">Assessment of Economy, Efficiency and Effectiveness<\/strong><\/span><\/h4><p data-start=\"928\" data-end=\"1250\">The audit process evaluates whether resources are acquired at appropriate cost, whether they are used efficiently and whether programmes deliver expected results.
